Modern day machinery is often used for everyday tasks such as various farming tasks or  for roadworks or more commonly, construction work. However, machinery nowadays can be used to investigate the past. Machinery use in Archeology is big business. Specialised machinery is used to find, analyse and determine items.

Just last year in Cairo, machinery was used when archeologists were investigating the great pyramids.  The stones used for the Great Pyramids and other similar structures in the area were very heavy hence machinery was needed to ferry heavy stones.
