Prices for the fire damaged, or general machines for spare parts, at the recent Euro Auction in Leeds were remarkably high. Biding between competing dismantlers was fierce as they all try to increase their inventory of available used parts. Even though there has been a marked decrease in the scrap value of the metal, this increase in the prices being paid for damaged machines reiterates how the used parts market is continuing to grow. Demand for cheaper alternatives to main dealer prices for construction equipment parts has fuelled this growth. With month on month increases in parts requests submitted through online parts network UrParts.com it looks like this trend will continue.
