The Deere-Hitachi Construction Machinery Corporation have plenty of reasons to celebrate. It has been revealed that the joint venture between equipment manufacturing giants John Deere and Hitachi are to invest US$97 million in the company which is set to increase capacity at their US operations in Kernersville and North Carolina.

According to Deere-Hitachi, this expansion will mark an increase in the joint ventures excavator manufacturing capacity by over 60%. 60 acres of additional land will also be added to the existing facilities and will facilitate a new warehouse while the existing factory will also be expanded with new technology.

The president and CEO of Deere-Hitachi was understandably very enthusiastic about the news and explained the reasons behind the expansion. He stated:  “The overall market for excavators remains quite strong and customer demand for the high-quality Deere and Hitachi-branded machines manufactured by our employees in Kernersville continues to grow. We believe the time is right to further invest in our North Carolina facility.”
