Parliament was presented with the announcement of the additional spend ranging across a broad spectrum of areas yesterday. Transport projects including power plants and a commitment to the £43bn HS2 line are the main project in the infrastructure program.  The Chancellor said “We’re announcing the largest program of investment in our roads for half a century… we’re committing to the largest investment in our railways since the Victorian age.”

The funds will be rolled out across a combination of existing and new projects with a strong focus on road and rail.  Other projects include broadband, next generation mobile networks, housing, flood defenses and science. This announcement provides much needed encouragement to the construction industry which has seen a decline in recent years.
