We at UrParts.com regularly have nice things to celebrate but this week we hit a particularly momentous occasion when we went over 9,000 users. As we eat, breath and sleep parts, it’s good to know that over 9,000 people out there have come to us for help. Just knowing that we helped all these people save both Time and Money in their quest to find construction parts gives us a particularly warm squishy feeling inside.
On closer inspection it transpires that these people are located in 170 different countries around the world. This got us thinking… What countries are we missing?
Prices for the fire damaged, or general machines for spare parts, at the recent Euro Auction in Leeds were remarkably high. Biding between competing dismantlers was fierce as they all try to increase their inventory of available used parts. Even though there has been a marked decrease in the scrap value of the metal, this increase in the prices being paid for damaged machines reiterates how the used parts market is continuing to grow. Demand for cheaper alternatives to main dealer prices for construction equipment parts has fuelled this growth. With month on month increases in parts requests submitted through online parts network UrParts.com it looks like this trend will continue.
Analysis of the second quarter part requests from around the world have revealed that Komatsu has overtaken Volvo and JCB as the second highest brand when compared to the first quarter. Cat continue to hold the top position however the gap between it and the following 4 brands is narrowing. In descending order the top 5 brands for this quarter were Cat, Komatsu, Volvo, JCB, Hitachi and they account for almost half out of a total of 2,505 requests processed. As the number of monthly part requests continue to increase month on month the third quarter results for 2013 should make for interesting reading.
For people who like Volvo and also like music the news of the new partnership between Volvo and Spotify will be an exciting one. They recently announced that going forward drivers will be able to stream music in cars fitted with the Sensus Connected Touch in-car Entertainment System. The system works by streaming from your 3G/4G mobile phone or dongle and also have a voice activation feature keeping in line with hands free driving safety regulations. Spotify users already familiar with it’s interface and features will be able to enjoy their favorite tracks immediately in their vehicle.
It will form part of Volvo’s new Sense Connected Touch dashboard system which includes a 7-inch touchscreen. Volvo’s in-car tech system, also supports other Android apps including Google Maps and TuneIn Radio. It even has its own dedicated app store for updates. It can be fitted as a factory accessory in all new Volvo (V40, V40 Cross Country, S60, V60, XC60, V70, XC70 and S80) as well as being retrofitted in applicable used cars from model year 2011.
I wonder when it will be fitted as standard in Volvo Dump Trucks?… Nice thought!!
Analyses of part requests from around the world have revealed that the top 5 Brands of searched parts in the first quarter of 2013 are Cat, Volvo, JCB, Komatsu, Hitachi. This indicates that the big brands continue to keep a foothold in the market regardless of the effect the global recession is having on the industry. Out of a total of 1779 processed parts requests almost half of the total requests were for machines for these 5 brands. The leading brand being Cat is ahead by almost half that of Volvo being the next largest brand.
